love (Jan 31st)

all you need is
love.

City & Colour (Jan 30th)

Oy, long long day = no picture taken and thus said, stand-in cheater picture...
I love this picture of the city and the colours all blurred together.
It reminds me of Christmas and this piece of magic.

Swift (Jan 29th)

Like how I just used knitter's lingo up there? I've hopped on the knitting bandwagon.
This is a swift, a fancy knitting contraption. I'm not sure how it works but it takes yarn from the store and winds it up into a nice little ball...

Light (Jan28th)

stop sign in the water or in the sky? (Jan 27th)

It was so stinkin' beautiful today so I decided to take my camera and Charlie for a walk around the neighborhood. These reflection pictures are becoming a favorite of mine.
They look so magical.

Metal Flowers (Jan 26th)

These metal flowers made me smile today.
Mostly because when I first saw them I thought each flower had a smiley face.
Which I think might be too cheesy, even for me.

Malawian painting (Jan 25th)

I was just hanging out in our attic and stumbled across a pile of Malawian paintings/tapestries that I bought when I was there. They're so pretty and colorful and I can't help but think about Malawi and all my friends there and I just miss it. It makes my heart hurt.
Someday...hopefully, someday soon.

Portland, OR (Jan 24th)

Totally didn't take a picture on the 24th.
So this here is my stand-in from the 23rd.
Portland is pretty.
I took this with my friend Will's awesome wide angle lens. I definitely have lens envy and hope to get this one eventually(17-40mm, f/4L).
Follow Will's photo blog; you'll be in for a treat.

Different perspectives (Jan23rd)

I couldn't decide which one of these to post.
I like both perspectives.
I think I like the 2nd one best, but I wasn't sure if you could tell that is a bridge in the background. :)

Fremont Bridge (Jan 22nd)

Quick photo taken this morning in the parking lot of what used to be Sydney's, the best coffee shop of all time. I'm so sad they aren't there anymore. There's a new coffee house in there now, but it's just not the same!

Caper (Jan 21st)

I adore this pup.
Caper is my roommate Karyn's dog.
He hasn't quite warmed up to me taking pictures of him. He tends to make funny faces once the camera comes out. I think he has a bit of Chandler in him. Tee hee..
I love this photo of him though :)

St. Johns Bridge (Jan 20th)

My most favorite bridge.
Isn't it magnificent?
I didn't realize I loved bridges so much until I moved to Portland.
City of Bridges.

magnetic poetry (Jan 19th)

I love magnetic word poetry.
Words make me happy.

Chilean Spikey Tree (Jan 18th)

Loved this crazy spiky tree today at the Hoyt Arboretum.
A Chilean tree, I think.
Anyhoo, I loved playing around with settings and playing with the focus.
I just love those blurred backgrounds.

Charlie Bit My Finger (Jan 17th)

Meet Charlie.
He looks so innocent doesn't he?

He belongs to my roomates, Mike and Jeannie.
I love living with dogs, they're so much fun and they have so much personality.
I love this pup and all his crazy ways.
I'm sure you'll be seeing more of him.

Thanks Karyn! (Jan 16th)

Was so tired last night. Walked in the door snapped this photo and went to bed.
This is one of my most favorite notes from my roomate karyn. In the fall, I was having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad week and Karyn left some pretty flowers and this note by my bed and it was the sweetest thing and it made everything a little lighter.
Karyn is a favorite of mine, especially when she talks like Stitch-makes me laugh every time.

Shannon Hannon Has a Canon (Jan 14th)

Told myself I would try not to cop out and take pictures I took from other days and post them on a day I didn't take them just because I like them better (how was that for a run-on sentence? I'm tired). I took this one this morning when I was playing with settings. I'm not a big self-portrait fan but I like the layout and the colour.

reflections (Jan 14th)

I just really love reflections.

Ropes and Reins (Jan 13th)

It's the ropes and the reins
And the joy and the pain
And they call the thing rodeo

My friend Kelsey makes books, from SCRATCH. Yeah, she's awesome like that. I bought this one from her at Crafty Wonderland (big local craft fair for local artists to share and show off their stuff), which is a real thing and also awesome.
I just love the vintage cowboy theme.
I might not look it, but deep down, I'm a little bit country.

first shot with the new camera! (Jan 12th)

I got my new camera today!
HOORAY!
BUT, I have no idea how all the settings and functions work yet, so here ya go, first picture with the new digs!
p.s. Isn't my clock awesome? I got it for Christmas. I still need a battery for it though; that time is a lie.

Sabbath Prayer (Jan 11th)

Alas, more pictures from my room. I wrote this quote down when I was in Malawi and find myself coming back to it over and over again. I guess it helps that it's been sitting on the table by my door since I moved in.
How awesome though, we walk sightless among miracles...Sure, it's cool to see miracles, but to know they are happening all around us, pretty amazing.

Be Happy (Jan 10th)

Be Happy.
Another last minute picture. I think you guys will be seeing a lot of random pictures from my room. I often forget to take a picture for the day until I am already in bed and then just look around the room for something fun to take a picture of..which can result in some pretty cool photos.

Smile. You Are Beautiful (Jan 9th)

Smile. You are beautiful.
This picture is not from today, but I did frame this picture today and put it in the bathroom by the mirror (that's gotta count for somethin' right?). I saw this on a walk through NW Portland in the summer on the sidewalk.
It just made me so happy.
We need more positive propaganda like this.

Happy Birthday Mike (Jan 8th)

Who wouldn't want their cubicle covered in post-it notes :)

Peace beneath the city (Jan 7th)

The sun is shining and the wind is whipping.
I miss just walking around the city.
I just love it.

Barista (Jan 6th)

Dare I say, best coffee in the city of Portland.

Stuck on Hope (Jan 4th)

It seems I'm stuck on this thing called hope, and I'm okay with that.

choose hope (Jan 3rd)

choose hope.

Bellingham Ferry Terminal (Jan 2nd)

Bellingham Ferry Terminal. My friend Rachel got married in this beautiful venue on January 2, 2010. What a fantastic way to start a new decade!
