TOMS (March 30th)

With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of new shoes to a child in need.
Sounds like a pretty sweet deal if you ask me, AND they are super comfy shoes.

Maine (March 29th)

My friend Matt got this for me. His parents own a souvenir company in Maine and he helps out with sales etc. in the summer. I think that's so cool that they control what souvenirs people will choose from when they travel to Maine.
And I absolutely love this beach bag.

Kiddos! (March 28th)

A few of the cutest kids on the PLANET.
I loved having them with us on the retreat. They are so FUN and adorable.

Hike overlooking the John Day River (March 27th)

Saturday, a few of us decided to be real ambitious and scale the huge mountainy hill on the property. It's safe to say that we blazed our own trail, for better or worse. We made it up and back in one piece but it was probably not the best idea to scramble around making our own trail. The view was incredible. I could barely walk the next day. I'm so glad I went.

Windmills are magical (March 26th)

We were driving out to Central Oregon on Friday on our way to the Refuge retreat and once you get out East there are windmills everywhere. I can't get enough of them. They are just so massive and magical as they spin around.

tunnel vision (March 25th)

Went photo-ing with Jordan and Will around Washington Park last week. It ended being pretty windy and chilly so we ended up in the MAX tunnel by the Zoo to take some pictures.
The top one is a bit scary but cool if you ask me.

Silverton (March 24th)

Karyn and I went adventuring around Silverton. Silverton is crazy and quirky; I love it.
This town loves their murals, a dog named Bobby, antique shops and old fashioned charm.
Karyn and I had a little knitting photo shoot that had been on the "to do" list for ages and we finally got to it! I must admit, they turned out pretty great! It does help that Karyn is a super talented knitter AND great in front of the camera.

Jake (March 23rd)

I was dog sitting last week for my old professor and this is the handsome pup I got to hang out with! He is so handsome and ginormous. My arms were sore for days after walking him!
He's a sweetheart though and now I want a dog of my own more than ever. sigh...

shout out to keeler (March 22nd)

Met up with good ol' friend Sarah Keeler too while Court was visiting. We made it out to Henry's for happy hour and a couple March Madness games (Dawgs won!).

bring on the cheese (March 21st)

I just love this girl. Courtney and I were roommates for a year up in Seattle and she came down for the weekend. She's one of those people that refreshes and encourages me in so many ways. And, she brings out the cheese in me.

Drew and Stacey (March 20th)

Congrats to Drew and Stacey! I couldn't be more excited for these two!
Newly engaged on March 20th!

Silver Falls (March 19th)

Thought you might actually want to see the falls. The top anyway.
I like how the water drops on my lens did this crazy thing in the picture.

The road ahead (March 18th)

Drew and I went out hiking around Silver Falls and boy is it beautiful out there. Wow.

flutterby (March 17th)

Such pretty wings

book.love. (March 16th)

Someday, I will have time to read the books on my shelf...

Lemonade (March 15th)

My good ol' clock again.
Still don't have batteries in the thing yet.
Can you tell this was a busy week?
All these pictures are from my room..good times.

letter writing (March 14th)

"I didn't have time to write a short letter, so I wrote a long one instead." -Mark Twain

0% plastic (March 13th)

Don't use plastic bags people.

Buttons (March 12th)

I've always loved buttons. I put them on all my bags and they almost always fall off, but I enjoy them while they're there.
And Easy Street Records in Seattle is just the greatest. No other music store compares.

hire me! (March 11th)

A girl brought these into the dragonfly with her resume when we were hiring. The other girls and I thought this was a genius idea and we liked the girl!
It was a shame that we had just hired someone else just a couple hours before. She would have been a shoe in.
Maybe I should start using creative tactics like this when I apply for jobs..

Dragonfly Coffee House (march 10th)

I have loved the art work on the walls this past month. They are all pictures from Africa taken by a couple of our customers, Ron and Joyce. They started a girls home and take trips over to visit often. Just looking at the pictures when I'm working makes me miss Malawi so bad. I've just got to get back there!
We have some pretty incredible people who frequent the Dragonfly.

ladies of the dragonfly coffee house (march 9th)

We're blurry, but I like it.
I just love these ladies so much and I'm so grateful to work with such awesome people.

blue skies and snow (march 8th)

On Saturday it was 68 degrees outside.
On Monday, it snowed.
The sky was looking all kinds of crazy on Monday afternoon.
Look at the blue skies and the dark gray skies above.
Wild.

trees (march 7th)

No picture taken on Sunday but I did edit one from a drive out to the coast a while back.
The sky was doing some crazy things..

more flowers (March 6th)

Flowers never grow old to me.

Madrone Lane (March 5th)

Madrone Lane is the home of my most favorite bakery, Blackbird Bakery.
Their toast and jam is HEAVEN.
Now, I'm not a toast lover in general. I love my cereal in the morning but this toast is on fresh baked bread and fresh made berry jam. It's so amazing that they make shirts that say
"I ♥ toast!"
and people paint this on the street

Also notable, blackbirds hang out in the trees outside.

Ava Marie (March 4th)

My new baby Niece, Ava Marie
She is the sweetest little girl, precious as ever.
I just love her.
And look at the faces she's already making...she's gold.

the forest for the trees (March 3rd)

I was on Bainbridge Island the last couple days spending some time with the fam, celebrating my step-dad's birthday and meeting my new baby niece Ava Marie :)
My mom and I decided to go for a little trail jaunt through the Grand Forest on Wednesday. It was a gorgeous day for it and I'm reminded of how much I love trees. They make me feel small, but in a good way. In a way that reminds me that I'm just part of a larger story being told and by a far greater soul than myself. Thank goodness for that.

trust (march 2nd)

I was closing down the coffee house and sweeping the floors like I always do and as I was sweeping, the pile of dust and coffee grounds and crumbs collected at my feet. I looked down and right there in that gross pile of garbage was the word trust. I was so thankful for a perfectly placed reminder.

trust.

hope. (March 1st)

"The phoenix hope, can wing her way through the desert skies, and still defying fortune's spite; revive from ashes and rise." -Miguel de Cervantes
