Mike likes to tell people his birthday is May 6th. However, May 6th is not Mike's birthday. We celebrated Mike's birthday for real in January and boy was that hilarious and amazing.
Surprises all around.
So with Mike's real birthday out of the way, we thought, he would never suspect anyone celebrating his fake birthday. So Karyn, Annie, and myself thought up this fantastic idea to make shirts with Mike's face on it (courtesy of Kevin's graphic skillz) and then sell them to all our friends to raise funds for our friend Katie Potter to get to Africa. Double win! There were photo shoots. Everyone took a picture of themselves in their Mike shirt and changed their FB profile picture to the Mike shirt. And then, we managed to coordinate many run-ins with Mike throughout the day while wearing the shirts. It was all so fantastic.
The best part of the day was when Karyn and I went to a concert at Mississippi Studios that night, and as we walked up to the door, these two guys stopped us asking, "hey what are those shirts?" To which we replied, "It's our friend, Mike".
And then they went on to say that they had been seeing people wearing these shirts all around town.
I think this is when Karyn and I high-fived and celebrated a successful surprise/fundraiser.
Happy May 6th, Mike!
